Target overview and information
Classification of Targets
DELTA contains information on 422 therapeutic targets, classified according three different classification schemes:
1. Status
- Successful Targets (at least one approved drug)
- Clinical Trial Targets (at least one molecule in clinical trial)
2. Biological Class
- Enzymes
- Receptors
- Nuclear Hormone Receptors
- Factors and Regulators
- Transporters
- Ion Channels
- Others
3. ICD-11 Chapters
For details on ICD-11 classification please visit https://icd.who.int/en/
A complete list of ICD-11 chapters for each target is available for download by clicking the “Download Info button” in the Explore Targets page. Please note that the list is not accessible online.Explore in Real-Time
Visualize Info
Essential information on each target can be visulized in the Explore Targets page. Each target entry includes:
- Select: Select the target.
- Target ID: DELTA unique identifier for the target.
- Target Name: Official name of the target protein (synonyms are included for search purposes but are not displayed).
- UniProt AC: Unique identifier assigned to a protein or sequence entry when it is first submitted to the UniProt database. It may change over time as the protein’s data is updated or revised.
- UniProt ID: Unique identifier assigned to a protein entry in the UniProt database. It is used to reference a specific protein sequence and related data.
- Biological Class: Please refer to the biological classification outlined above.
- Max Phase: Please refer to the status classification outlined above.
- Source: Source of 3D structure (PDB code when available, Modelled or Ab Initio). The template used to model the structure is available in the downloaded file.
- Structure: Download the optimized 3D structure of the protein by clicking the download icon, or visualize it by clicking the visualize icon.
- Ligands: Link to the page containing detailed information about the ligands associated with the target.
Targets can be searched by ID, name (some synonyms are allowed), Uniprot Ac o ID and filtered by biological class and status.
Visualize Structures
Structures can be visulized at Interactive Protein Visualization page.
If the page is accessed directly no data will be shown. To view target structure, you must first select a target by following the instructions provided on the page. If the page is accessed form the Explore Targets Page (by clicking the view icon in the corresponding ‘Structure’ column) the structure of the query target is automatically loaded.

Download Info
You can download additional details for selected targets by clicking the ‘Download Info’ button located at the top right of the table in the Explore Targets page. The downloaded information includes:
- Target ID: DELTA unique identifier for the target.
- Target Name: Official name of the target protein
- UniProt AC: Unique identifier assigned to a protein or sequence entry when it is first submitted to the UniProt database. It may change over time as the protein’s data is updated or revised.
- UniProt ID: Unique identifier assigned to a protein entry in the UniProt database. It is used to reference a specific protein sequence and related data.
- Synonyms: Additional names for the target protein.
- Function: Some basic info on protein function.
- Biological Class: Please refer to the bioclass classification outlined above.
- Subclass: Please refer to the ontology section provided above.
- Max Phase: Please refer to the status classification outlined above.
- ICD chapters list successful: List of ICD-11 chapters for approved drugs.
- ICD chapters num successful: Number of ICD-11 chapters for approved drugs.
- ICD chapters list clinical: List of ICD-11 chapters for clinical trial drugs.
- ICD chapters num clinical: Number of ICD-11 chapters for clinical trial drugs.
- Structure info: PDB code of the original structure *
*If the structure was modelled through homology modelling the PDB code of the template is reported as XXXX.y.z, XXXX being the PDB code of the template, y the model number and z the chain in the model.
If the structure was generated using AlphaFold the AF identifier is reported as AF-UniProtAC-F1-model_v4
